I’m going to go pack

Let the adventure begin. In just about twelve hours, I’ll be on my way to Vegas to celebrate the marriage of James and Beth, then to Portland to visit Powell’s and drink beer. Of course, that’s just the beginning of the adventure…

From Portland we’ll travel to Seattle where we will find an absolutely adorable and accessible apartment for a very reasonable monthly rate. We’ll spend quality time with the lovely (and pregnant!) Desma, and then catch a big boat that will take us even farther north.

So far, Matt has purchased a wide-angle lens and got a polarizer for his very nifty SLR. Now, he’s also considering buying something smaller and waterproof, on the off chance that I can convince him to pay WAY too much money for a little boat and some oars to make it go. I think the only reason that the second camera is still up in the air is that our excursion choices haven’t yet been made–either kayaking, biking, or maybe one of those blow-up motor boats.

I decided to take the very reasonable approach and set goals for my trip to Alaska that are completely and totally outside of my control.

  1. I want to see the aurora borealis.
  2. I want to see an Orca.

Oh, yeah, and I’d like to eat and drink and hang out with Matt, Dad and other loved ones. See how reasonable I can be?

Apparently, there’s still a 5% chance we’re going to Boston

My mom asked me to blog about Matt’s job hunt, but first:

HOORAY!! I now have a real pretty functioning blog.  I have my own domain, even.  LindsayDayton.com.  That’s me.  I’m so happy I could just spit.

Now, to business: I have been told that we have achieved 95% certainty that Matt and I will be moving to Seattle.  He’s expecting an offer from Preclick tomorrow, and got a request for an on-site interview with a little shop called Google in Kirkland, Washington.  I’m really proud and really excited, but mostly wrapped up in exactly what it will mean to me that we’re moving to Seattle.  A little bit about what it will mean to us, but mostly it’s about me.
