Man, is this daunting… Nothing but open space… Must impose structure… Ah! A list!
- San Diego native. Have done time in Berkeley, Oakland (my enduring favorite), Alameda, Seattle, and most recently Edinburgh, Scotland. Now I am taking up space in various guest rooms around San Diego until I can find a job and a suitable rental.
- I am engaged to a wonderful, awesome, intelligent, sensitive, lovely Mancunian named Paul. Don’t know when or where the wedding is yet, so don’t ask. I’m choosing to focus on the marriage.
- I used to be an elementary school teacher. First in the ghetto, then in the barrio. Like over 50% of dedicated, idealistic, hard-working young teachers, I burned out. I was tired and broke and feeling generally useless.
- In my new line of work, I am well-rested, paying off my student loans, and constantly discovering that I’m very useful. I’m not making the world a better place, exactly, but I’m happier and that’s worth a lot.
- What I do depends on what you do. If you are not familiar with internet startup culture and technology, then that’s what I do. If you are, then I do business development, content management, and SEO for new projects. If you are a local business, I can help you get more customers using the web–check out my resume page.
- Finally finally, have settled into a brand of Christianity that is compatible with what I’ve always understood as love-thy-neighbor, but what I now learn is called Humanism. Being loving is more important than being right, people.
- I’m a Libertarian Socialist who votes Democrat. Put that in your smoke and pipe it.
- I read. Love to read. Have a whole shelf of books in the queue. I’m a sci-fi noob, and have lately been enjoying lots of pop-psych, Jane Austen, and other fiction that comes recommended by friends or the Newberry Award.
- I knit. Love to knit. Can’t say enough how addicted to yarn I have have become. Never leave the house without a project. I’m Lindsay Dayton on Ravelry, shockingly enough.
- I am a novice urban cyclist. I don’t commute anywhere, but I have found my flat-bar road bike is good for pretty much anything, short of a run to the airport or CostCo. Still learning that cars are not to be trusted!
- I’m a Mac fangirl, and my iPhone is pushing me nearer obsession every day.
- I love to travel. I had forgotten, being so poor as I was, that I love to travel. Have seen very small corners of Asia and Europe, most of this great continent of North America, and nothing of anything else. But I’ve got a map and a whole cup full of pins.
- Food and Drink compete for the #1 spot in my drug-of-choice list. More specifically, cake and beer.
- I’m experimenting with a greener lifestyle. In San Diego, canvas grocery bags are enough to make people assume that you are a tree-hugger, but I’m bucking the system. Sometimes I even scare myself with the kind of hippie I have become.
- I’m about 85% of the way done with a Master’s Degree in Policy Studies in Cross-Cultural Education. Anyone want to write my thesis for me?
