The “Profile” section of my resume says
I am a highly skilled manager of people, projects, and words with a diverse employment background that reflects my love of the internet, my skill in writing, and my passion for education as a means to social justice.
This is true. So, I am basically looking for work on exciting projects. Things that will make the world or the internet a better place are very very attractive to me, and companies that really get progressive management styles are even more attractive.
What the resume doesn’t necessarily show is that I have over 5 years of experience working with internet entrepreneurs. This means that my understanding of the internet and web-based businesses and what they can and cannot do is exceptional. I am passionate about helping to secure success for startups, and even more passionate about helping existing companies (especially locally owned brick-and-mortar businesses) leverage the internet for their success.
The truth is, I am not exactly sure what industry I would like to be in, as long as the work is challenging. Turns out my skills are widely useful, rather than industry-specific. Here’s what I can do (and not just because my resume says so):
- Management: My diverse experiences in corporate accounting, public education, and internet entrepreneurialism have allowed me to develop a highly effective management style.
- Project Initiation: One of my specific strengths is having knowledge and foresight that allows me to effectively establish new systems.
- Copywriting: I am proficient in casual, professional, marketing, and informative styles, appropriate for web or other media.
- Software: I am very experienced with Windows, full MS Office suite of software, but I use Mac OSX.
- Online Applications: I am proficient or better with Google Analytics, AdWords, MSN AdCenter, GoogleDocs and others.
- Communication: I have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Multi-tasking: I thrive when managing several projects at one time, or in an environment that requires flexibility and diverse strategies.
- Web Marketing and Social Media: I am experienced in planning and implementing SEM and SEO strategies, as well as using social media in a variety of ways to support online business goals.
